Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing has pledged to donate up to one million serves of Weet-Bix during the month of July as part of the Foodbank Shop & Share campaign.

The campaign matches donations from Sanitarium and other top food brands with consumer purchases in Woolworths. Every 575g box of Weet-Bix purchased from Woolworths during July triggers a matching donation of Weet-Bix to Foodbank.

For Foodbank, Australia’s largest non-profit food relief organisation, the campaign offers an opportunity to stock up on key staples as they provide food for more than 172,000 meals each day to assist vulnerable Australians, one-third of whom are children.

Sanitarium, with support from supply chain partners, has donated more than 4 million serves of product as part of Foodbank’s Key Staples program since 2010. Foodbank distributes donated product to some 2500 charities, schools and shelters, delivering vital support to 644,000 vulnerable people every month throughout Australia.

“There are a lot of Aussies doing it tough, particularly during this time of year,” said Julie Praestiin, head of Corporate Communications at Sanitarium. “This campaign is a great opportunity to raise awareness of hunger in Australia and also to partner with our customers to make a big difference in addressing the need.”

The partnership, part of a long-term commitment to fight hunger in Australia, is an extension of Sanitarium’s core mission of caring for people’s health and wellbeing.
