Sanitarium Health Food Company also took part in the Trans Pacific for Christ evangelistic campaign, with a team of 10 employees providing food and practical support to communities in Fiji.
During their September 24–29 visit, the team worked alongside local churches to feed 800 people a day, 3,500 over the week across three communities in Lautoka.
The employees participated in worship, prayer and community activities at Natabua, Nasovanivatu and the Girmit Centre. They also visited Golden Age Home—an aged-care facility—a preschool and Fulton Adventist University.
In addition to serving meals featuring Weet-Bix, So Good and UP&GO, Sanitarium donated food products for distribution through local churches and schools.
Sanitarium New Zealand corporate chaplain Karyn Newson said one of the highlights was seeing local children help serve their own communities. “There is so much love shown for their communities as they genuinely serve and care for their neighbours,” she said.
Will Iererua, Sanitarium’s chaplaincy services and Seventh-day Adventist engagement lead, said the experience demonstrated how sharing food could create opportunities for personal connections.
“We could see God’s presence already in the lives of the communities we visited, and it was wonderful for us to be able to plant a little spiritual seed in them as we connected with them over a bowl of Weet-Bix and So Good,” he said.
