Fulton Adventist University has concluded its Fiji-based Fulton for Christ campaign, with 11 sites holding evangelistic meetings from June 14 to 27. A 12th site, in Tonga, commenced this week.
The two-week evangelistic campaign saw theology lecturers and students preach throughout the Nadi district under the theme “Saved to Stand”, presenting the message of salvation in Christ.
The initiative is Fulton’s contribution to Trans Pacific for Christ and forms part of the lead-up to Fiji for Christ in August.
Each evening included health checks and Vacation Bible School programs before the sermons—delivered through a partnership between local churches and the university’s theology faculty and students.
An unexpected storm during the first week forced several sites to cancel two nights of meetings because of strong winds and heavy rain. One site also faced an additional challenge when another faith group commenced an evangelistic series only metres away on opening night.
Despite these setbacks, the meetings continued, with church members, visitors and theology students on practicum braving the cold winter evenings to attend. Thirty-nine individuals were baptised at the end of the series.
Meanwhile, the university’s 12th Fulton for Christ site started this week in Tonga, with vice chancellor Professor Ronald Stone preaching for two weeks with assistance from Tongan theology students.
