“Called Forward Into Mission” was the theme of a week-long orientation and training program hosted recently by the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM).

The theme, drawn from 1 Peter 2:9, set the tone for the week. It reminded leaders that their authority is rooted in God’s call to proclaim Christ across the Pacific and beyond.

“We are not here simply to manage tasks,” said TPUM president Pastor Charlie Jimmy, “but to embrace our calling as ambassadors of Christ, equipped and sent for mission.”

The event brought together Union executives, departmental directors, mission presidents and institutional administrators from across the 11 nations of the TPUM. Orientation focused on leadership development, strategic planning, governance, discipleship pathways, communication alignment and collaborative mission engagement. Training sessions equipped administrators with practical tools for church growth, organisational excellence and community engagement. Leaders from the South Pacific Division office assisted with the training.

The week also included orientation on compliance, policy implementation, spiritual leadership formation and engagement with community health and education structures—all viewed as critical as TPUM strengthens systems across its diverse missions.

The orientation culminated in the first formal TPUM Executive Committee meeting for 2026 where leaders reviewed strategic priorities, ratified key organisational structures and laid the groundwork for Union-wide mission deployment for the quinquennium.

At the heart of meeting deliberations was the upcoming TPUM for Christ initiative—a major evangelistic effort scheduled for July and August. This campaign invites churches, lay members and institutions to join in coordinated outreach, training and community engagement across the Pacific, building on the momentum of earlier evangelistic movements.

Scheduled events include preaching series, community health outreach, discipleship programs and youth engagement activities. Leaders emphasised that TPUM for Christ is designed not as a one-off event, but as a catalyst for sustained spiritual growth and community transformation in every mission and institution.

Mission presidents also shared their visions and quinquennium plans during the meeting, offering insights into how each field will contribute to Union objectives—particularly in advancing the gospel and developing disciples throughout the region.

Institutions such as Fulton Adventist University and Atoifi Adventist Hospital reported on their ongoing service ministries and shared how their academic and health outreach are partnering with mission churches to support broader TPUM goals.
