More than 60 students from elementary to tertiary level gathered with church leaders and families at 15 Mile Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Moresby (PNG) on January 24 for a special prayer ahead of the new school year.
The prayer took place just before the Sabbath service and was led by Pastor Thomas Bem, president of the South West Papua Mission, who was attending the service.
During the dedication, Pastor Bem reminded students of the responsibility they carry as representatives of their families and faith communities as they return to their studies.
“Every student represents their clan, tribe and the church,” he said, encouraging them to uphold Christian values in their schools and local communities.
Parents, church leaders and members joined in prayer, committing the students’ academic journey to God and asking for guidance, protection and wisdom in the year ahead.
Church communications liaison Rose Maine Sinias said the dedication “reflected the church’s ongoing commitment to nurturing students spiritually as part of its wider mission to support education and discipleship”.
