Four pastors were ordained to ministry ahead of the New Britain New Ireland Mission (NBNIM) business session on September 27. The service was held at Kulungi Seventh-day Adventist Church in West New Britain, with more than 1000 members, pastors, leaders and representatives from the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) in attendance.
Those ordained were Bali-Vitu district director Pastor Ensa Waison, Bialla district director Pastor Ivoni Kemo, Talasea district director Joe Kamua, and NBNIM youth and family life director Pastor Bera Atahu.
The ordination service was officiated by PNGUM ministerial secretary Pastor Daniel Ricky, assisted by NBNIM secretary Pastor Richard Koroi and outgoing president Pastor Andrew Opis, who was recently appointed president of Western Highlands Mission. PNGUM president Pastor Danny Philip, CFO Kenton Ghona and NBNIM’s newly appointed CFO Neil Baeta and associate CFO Goli Teluve were also present.
In his message, Pastor Ricky affirmed the faithfulness of the four pastors and charged them with their responsibilities. “When you receive an ordination, you have been recognised by heaven and you will join the team of the ordained pastors with access to the heavenly resources of God’s Spirit. You are ordained for eternity, so walk with God through eternity,” he said.
Representing the newly ordained, Pastor Kemo expressed gratitude on behalf of the group, acknowledging administrators, families, church members and colleagues for their support. “We are grateful for the ordination program and give glory and honour to God. We received the pastoral credentials not because of our strength but through the support of those who have shaped us to be mature and ordained.”
