Sonoma Adventist College, in the New Britain New Ireland Mission, Papua New Guinea, conducted a week of Spiritual Renewal and Gender Revival Meetings from August 24–30.

During the week, programs were held separately for male and female students, with lecturers also attending each meeting. Themed “Say yes to Jesus”, the evening worships led by Pastor Donald Yagla for the men’s sessions and Pastor Garry Laukei for the women, were designed to inspire the students and staff to take one more step closer to Christ.

The week-long program was organised by the Sonoma Student Representative Council in partnership with the Department of Student Services, with active participation from all dormitories. Each dorm was tasked with assisting in the program, giving students confidence and opportunities to share in front of their peers.

Health messages were presented by Joan Knox and Dora Sapak during the evening worships, encouraging students to live healthy and active lives. Programs concluded on time each night, allowing students to return to their studies and maintain their morning routines.

Music was a highlight of the week with the chosen theme song titled, “To love our God is the heartbeat of our mission”. In the evening messages, Pastor Yagla challenged the young men to uphold Bible principles, to do what is right, and to remain sober and vigilant amidst the challenges of today’s world.

The week of revival concluded with four individuals publicly committing their lives to Christ through baptism on Sabbath. Many others made personal decisions to accept Jesus as their Saviour during the nightly appeals.

The program concluded with moments of personal reflection for both men and women. Participants said they felt blessed and inspired by the program.
