The Australian Union Conference (AUC) provided a forum for delegates to further discuss and take on board insights and direction for the 2025-2030 strategic plan during this week’s constituency meeting.

Delegates were gathered into focus groups throughout the session to discuss key questions and challenges that will impact the AUC moving forward into the next quinquennium.

Some of the key challenges that were raised included youth engagement, secularism, discipleship, mental health, elder development and Adventist identity. Several missional outcomes were identified including training, resourcing, media ministry and governance.

Following these discussions the AUC strategic plan will be discussed and finalised with the new Executive Committee, then released at the end of the year. Additionally, the AUC has put in place a process of review which will ensure that each department is on track to achieving the measures that have been set in the strategic plan throughout the next quinquennium.

Tasmanian Conference president Pastor Rick Hergenhan shared, “There was a deep desire from all levels of the Church for mission from the local church to admin; it was encouraging to hear that everyone was on the same page.”

Ismael Santillan, Executive Committee member from Queenstown Adventist Church in South Australia, said, “The highlight of the conversations was the strong need for disciples of the Church and for churches to continue to focus on the mission.”
