Sydney Adventist Hospital (the San) celebrated the important work of perioperative nurses during Perioperative Nurses Week from November 10 to 16. Perioperative nurses are registered nurses who care for patients before, during and after surgery or other invasive procedures

At the San, the perioperative teams participated in a calendar of events including games, a cook off and educational sessions.

“From preparing patients to ensuring safety in the theatre and supporting recovery, our nurses are the heartbeat of surgical care, thank you for your unwavering commitment to safety and excellence,” chief of operations and nursing executive Clare Lumley said.

Her sentiments were echoed by the hospital’s theatre manager, Julian Kueh.

“We are incredibly proud of our highly skilled perioperative teams,” Mr Kueh said. “Their engagement and tireless efforts create positive impact to the lives of our patients, community and each other.”
