Pastors from the Lae District in Papua New Guinea conducted a weekend of worship, nurturing and empowerment sessions at the remote Kabob Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salamaua from October 25 to 27.
The weekend program included worship, group discussions, and practical sessions aimed at discipleship and community outreach. Pastor Jonathan Joseph led a session on the Gardening Model of evangelism, designed to empower members in their discipleship journey. “It was a great blessing to help fellow Christians become disciple-makers,” he said.
During the visit, pastors observed that the church was filled to capacity on Sabbath, which, according to them, is a direct result of the nationwide evangelistic campaign PNG for Christ, held earlier this year.
Built in 2005 by volunteers, Kabob is the only organised church along the south coast of Morobe and the Salamaua area. Access to Kabob requires a one-hour boat ride from Lae, followed by an hour-long hike upstream. The church remains unfinished and in need of additional materials.
“We are planning to complete the church and create more seats,” said Minister Ian, who serves as a missionary at Kabob.
