An ADRA volunteer was featured on Channel 10’s midday news during this year’s National Volunteer Week, held May 20-26.

Pastor Eddy Johnson, a long-time volunteer counsellor at the ADRA Community Care Centre Blacktown (NSW), is one of the 2010 volunteers who generously give their time to support ADRA’s national programs.

Channel 10’s feature on Pastor Johnson, part of their National Volunteer Week series, highlighted his impact and the essential role volunteers play in supporting the community. “For more than 15 years, Eddy has been providing free counselling sessions to clients within his local community of Blacktown,” reported Daniel Doody from 10 News First.

Denison Grellmann, CEO of ADRA Australia, expressed his appreciation for volunteers like Pastor Johnson: “Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our projects in Australia. Thank you to our committed volunteers for the time and talents they give to serve their local community through ADRA.”

In the last year alone, ADRA volunteers contributed 419,460 hours, equating to a monetary value of $A9,744,056 when expressed as a gift in kind.

Throughout the week, ADRA highlighted the achievements of their volunteers by sharing volunteer profiles on the main Facebook page, as well as hosting volunteer events at a local level.
