After more than four years of design and construction, the Western Australian Conference was delighted to see the grand opening of Australis at Rossmoyne Waters on May 24.
Officially opened by Dr Mike Nathan MLA, State Member for Riverton, more than 300 people were in attendance for this historic moment for the Western Australian Conference.
Australis is a multi-storey apartment facility designed for retirement living. The facility’s design draws inspiration from luxury hotels, with 86 apartments and other amenities including a community function room, activity rooms, a village workshop, lounges, a pool, spa, gym and sauna, lawn bowls, mini golf and community gardens.
Rossmoyne Waters has its origins in the early 1960s, with most of the original facilities being refurbished or replaced over the years. With the site’s limited land, a multi-storey construction offered the opportunity for Adventist Care to redevelop much of the village property and meet the needs of the community’s ageing population.
The redevelopment has only been possible due to team work between the Adventist Care board and administrators, and a raft of professional services including project managers (NS Projects), architects (Hames Sharley) and the builder (PACT Construction).
Looking into the future, Adventist Care will now shift its focus to Stage 2, which will include further independent living apartments (self-care), serviced apartments (assisted living) and a residential aged care facility (full-time care).
In the meantime, Australis will quickly become fully inhabited and serve as the central hub of activity for all retired residents as they enjoy the opportunities that the new amenities have to offer.
