The Adventist Book Centre (ABC) in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, took part in the annual National Book Week from August 6 to 10, exhibiting books in three state and two Adventist schools.

This year’s book exhibition saw 12 sets of Testimonies for the Church by Ellen G White sold at the Mount Diamond Adventist Secondary School, while a record 19 sets sold at the Koiari Park Adventist Primary School, based at the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) campus.

One young student at Mt Diamond saved his allowances to buy a set for himself—a first of its kind as The Testimonies hardly interest the younger generation. When asked by the ABC staff why he made the purchase, he smiled and remarked, “I want to be a minister of the gospel!”

More than 2000 people at the state-run Bavaroko Primary School, a good number of whom are Adventists, expressed great appreciation for the church books which were on display. Classes of almost 60 students would line up in an orderly manner and pass through the display.

Staff at the Central Papua Conference ABC have often been invited to run Sabbath School in churches throughout the Conference, and there have been overwhelming results as the work is prayerfully carried out.
