A record number of people shared in the Christmas spirit at this year’s Sydney Adventist Hospital Carols by Candlelight on Sunday evening (December 11).
More than 5500 people attended the event, which starred musical theatre performers Mark Vincent and Amanda Harrison. The line-up also included a cappella group Ardent Sound, children’s characters Hoot and Hootabelle and the Wahroonga Adventist School Choir.
Farm animals, reptiles and face painting kept the youngsters entertained while parents and others were moved by the operatic voice of Vincent, a former Australia’s Got Talent winner. Particularly inspiring was a rendition of The Prayer he performed with Harrison.
The San Carols are also all about bringing some festive cheer to others, with the Wahroonga Rotary Club taking up a collection to support a local school for special needs children.
The event, which is the hospital’s annual free gift to the community, concluded with the Hallelujah Chorus and a spectacular fireworks display.
