Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott was among more than 600 entrants who participated in the Sydney Adventist Hospital’s Run For Life on Sunday morning.
Mr Abbott officially started the first race and competed with San Foundation managing director Barbara Ward and hospital CEO Phil Currie. Federal MP Paul Fletcher and State MP Jonathan O’Dea also took part in the event, which included a 10km run, 5km run and 5km walk.
The annual fun run, organised by the San Foundation, raised almost $80,000 for the hospital’s Integrated Cancer Centre and services for cancer patients.
The 5km walk was especially enjoyed by families, many of whom participated for loved ones affected by cancer. Several San doctors and nurses also took part in the event.
