More than 800 people have attended Signs of the Times magazine sponsored prophecy seminars at Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin. Pastor Gary Kent, speaker for It Is Written Oceania (IIWO) television programs, presented the seminars over the last weekend in New Zealand.

The seminars also helped build a base for local church outreach, with approximately 350 people planning to attend follow-up Secrets of Prophecy seminars. Local church pastors Malcolm Eastwick (Dunedin), Jake Ormsby (Wellington) and Clifton Glasgow (Auckland) will present the subsequent seminars.

The seminars also helped build a base for local church outreach, with approximately 350 people planning to attend follow-up Secrets of Prophecy seminars.

The seminars were part of Signs’ “Try for Jesus” Rugby World Cup outreach initiative. Lee Dunstan, Signs of the Times editor said, “To my knowledge, this is the first such program by Signs of the Times since the church’s early days in Australia, around 1886. Back then, tent and hall meetings were advertised on its pages. The magazines were letterboxed, poked into hedges and suspended on wrought-iron railings around Melbourne.”

Besides the follow-up seminars, there were hundreds of requests for free Signs subscriptions. Many also wanted a viewing of the Who Is Jesus? DVD series.

“Our expectations were exceeded, and now I’m looking for some well-heeled sponsors,” said Mr Dunstan.

Such public evangelism may become a feature of Signs Ministry. “Future seminars would possibly tie in with the Beyond series, which features evangelist Pastor Geoff Youlden, a regular contributor to Signs magazine and the main presenter of the Beyond programs.”

Signs of the Times is available in many public places in New Zealand, including most regional airports. However, during the Try for Jesus campaign, church members gave away some 50,000 special issue copies as well.
