On July 12 the “Health Food Outlet” opened its doors to the Suva city public. Mrs Atelini Dakua credits God for the securing of “prime space” and for the lives of women who have embraced this initiative and are pitching in—in various ways.

“It is still very early days—but business has been good. We are securing great discounts from vegetables and fruit suppliers in the market. Our customers got to know about us by word of mouth,” says Mrs Dakua.

Mrs Dakua and her husband, Peniasi Lavava, are both retired from full time church employment. They have been involved in community outreach activities in addition to their roles as full time church employees. In the last couple of years, a health food outlet within the Maternity Wing of Suva’s CWM Hospital was operated by Mrs Dakua and Dorcas women.

The opening of the “Health Food Outlet” is a dream come true. “Some of the hospital customers are coming to buy food from here”. A Signs Magazine rack placed outside the restaurant is always empty. “The mall’s pedestrian traffic is such that the SIGNS and the RECORD magazines literally fly out of here”, Mr Dakua added. The store is 100% Adventist owned, and is managed and operated by the Suva South district Dorcas society.

Looking for a place to have lunch? Take the nutritious option. Visit Shop 11 in the South Mall. It is located next to the ADRA (Fiji) city Youth Centre.

“Thank you for supporting our Adventist women,” says Atelini Dakua.

The location of the Restaurant is: Shop 11, South Mall (across the road from Suva central bus terminal). It’s open from: 8:00am-4:00pm Monday to Friday.
